Tom Fitzsimmons entered academia, joining De Montfort University as a Lecturer in Architecture, at the same time as starting his practice.  He initially taught on and developed the experimental undergaduate Architecture and Urban Studies Course at the Milton Keynes branch, and then went on to re-design and lead the postgraduate Master of Architecture Course in Leicester as a Principal Lecturer. Under his leadership the MArch’s top students enjoyed sustained professional recognition, collecting awards annually.  He is now working with Ravensbourne, helping them to develop their postgraduate suite of Architecture courses. He has found that having a foot on both academic and real-world camps is mutually beneficial, keeping him up to date and enabling him to advise students from experience as to the expectations of the profession. Below are selected examples of the work of some of his students.
